by Mr. Gilbert Medam

Hosted by Aj. Siravith Kongbandansuk &

Aj. Apichai Chantanakajornfung

Description:

Improvisation often remains a mysterious activity for most classical musicians, despite their technical skills. Unlike Jazz, Classical Indian musicians (as well as other genres), their musical education is almost completely dependent on musical texts (scores), written by composers. In this week project, Gilbert Medam will share some secrets and insights about this fascinating musical art, that was once quite familiar among the European classical musicians of the past. You will learn the foundations of improvising in solo, duet, or in a band, by developing musical thinking skills, composing on the spot, in real time. We will examine in detail, the techniques needed to respond appropriately in a musical exchange as well as improvise in different contexts. And finally, understand how to build this inner landscape where musical elements connect in a myriad relationships to produce the most unexpected and inspiring music, all in the present moment.

Requirement:

- Any instrument who would like to learn how to improvise properly.

- No prior improvisation knowledge required.
