Jazz Improvisation Workshop

Description: 
In this project, everyone could have a chance to perform with big band / small ensemble and experience the improvisation in front of the ensemble. Students will learn a basic of jazz improvisation through various repertoires from different jazz era and music style in a small group lesson, also, the different role of rhythm section between playing with big band and small ensemble. Moreover, students has to discover how to improvise according to each music style (ex. jazz, funk, swing etc.) and perceive the style of jazz playing properly as well as develop your own jazz vocabulary for improvisation.

 

Requirement: 2 Saxophone, 4 Trumpet, 3 Trombone, 3 Piano, 2 Drum,
2 Bass, 3 Guitar and every instrument & voice


Capacity: 30 students

Aria Singing Project

Canta l'aria is the project for everyone who are interested in singing and musicians who want to play as if they were singing (cantabile) . The project insists of 3 main classes. Performing(sing/instruments of choice), interpretation (musically) and literature review. For singers, you can bring the arias of choice or the the one which we agree upon to work during the project. For musicians, you can bring your own music, which you would like to play as if you were singing(cantabile) and aria antique of choice to give you a glimpse of proper singing to work during the week. We're lucky enough to have Aj.Morakot Cherdchoo-ngarm as a guest instructor to give us an insight of what lies between the text and lines of the music.

Innovative Electronic Music

An introduction to interactive electronic instrument designs

Description: 

Over the course of these four days we will familiarise ourselves with a very versatile unit, the Teensy. Together, we will bring to life a series of digital musical instruments with cool buttons and homemade sensors. this workshop will give you the foundations necessary for inventing new interfaces for musical expression. We will look in depth at discreet and continuous sensors, have a go at creating our own devices and at mastering a new code especially created for this project. You will create a composition based on a free, browser-based music software (DAW) which you can continue using afterwards. Today is just the beginning of a fantastic adventure across music, technology, science, and whatever else you will want to explore.

 

Requirement: Students who already passed the "Music & Innovative" course

Arrangement - Repertoire in new lights

Description: A week-long project exploring repertoire by arrangement. Suitable for students who wanted to explore their repertoire by seeing it through perspective of other musical sounds/style. Students are requested to bring one repertoire they want to explore. With some thoughts in mind of what genre or musical styles they wanted to hear it being explored. Anything is possible!

Sessions include

1) orientation to possibilities in the arrangement

2) one to one tutorial (1 hour)

3) small group presentation/sharing

4) rehearsal of sections from the piece

5) showcase

 

Any instrument possible, be ready to explore, arrange & play!

Live music Recording

Live Music - Recording

Description:

This project is meant for everyone who are interested in Transcribe or arrange original musics to any kind of music ensemble. This project is coached by "Aj. Jinnawat Mansap", well known composer-arranger and one of the best sound engineer in Thailand, and "Mr. Prateep Jattanakul," who has a lot of experiences in many recording styles.

 

Within these 4 days, participants will create his/her own transcriptions/arrangements base on the original music, rehearse them together, study how to set up the microphones in different ways and also be able to study "the fundamental of live recording" by recording them afterwards.

 

Yeah!!! For sure, this project will give you the experiences as a musician or a sound engineer for the near future!!!!

 

Requirement: every instrument

Capacity: 25 Students
